Springfield may be best known for two other innovations - the birthplace of basketball and of Theodor Geisel, better known as “Dr. Suess".

West Springfield - known for some of its popular attractions, which include: The Big E. Majestic Theatre. Storrowton Village Museum.

Wilbraham - has roots in farming and manufacturing. Wilbraham was home to the community's first major employer: the Collins paper mill, which opened around 1872, closed in 1940 and was damaged in a fire five years later. Wilbraham was also known for its lush peach orchards.
